eGrocery Performance Benchmarking Report - 2023

NEW 2023 Report now available - To inquire about pricing and/or start the purchase process, please send an email to steve.bishop@brickmeetsclick.com .

This eGrocery Performance Benchmarking 2023 report focuses on conventional grocery retailers who sell groceries online, and who deliver those orders via Pickup and/or Delivery.

In particular, it focuses on the banners’ first-party (1P) services/offers, since who the 1P provider is affects which tactics a retailer can employ.

Benchmarks based on store-level performance

The 2023 study analyzes sales at the store level rather than thechain level to help retailers better identify performance gaps.

  • Composite sales and orders are weighted by APSW (average per store week)as opposed to total banner-level sales/orders to help equalizeperformance and offer more comparable metrics.
  • This perspective is more valuable since chainsare likely to have variations across the store base related to the age of astore’s online shopping services, the type of trade area that it operates in,and the services it offers.

The focus is on insights, not recommendations.

Given the variation across the participating banners (and other readers as well), this report focuses on the insights from findings, not specific recommendations.

Plus, new this year - Masked banner-level benchmarks for key performance indicators are provided in each section of the report's 5 main sections: eGrocery Configuration, Sales, Order, Average Order Value, and Customers.
